Blackjack Strategies for Hard Totals

The following strategies for the blackjack game are applicable if you have hard totals. Hard totals mean that you have a blackjack hand that has no Aces.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of eight or less, you must always hit.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of nine, you hit if the dealer's up card is two, seven, eight, nine, ten, or Ace. If the dealer's up card is three, four, five, or six, you must double down if it is allowed, but if not, you need to hit.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of ten, you hit if the dealer's up card is ten or Ace. If the dealer's up card is two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine, you must double down if it is allowed, but if not, you need to hit.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of 11, you hit if the dealer's up card is an Ace. If the dealer's up card is two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, or ten, you must double down if it is allowed, but if not, you need to hit.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of 12, you hit if the dealer's up card is two, three, seven, eight, nine, ten, or Ace. You stand if the dealer's up card is four, five, or six.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of 13 or 14, you stand if the dealer's up card is two, three, four, five, or six. You hit if the dealer's up card is seven, eight, nine, ten, or Ace.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of 15, you stand if the dealer's up card is two, three, four, five, or six. You hit if the dealer's up card is seven, eight, nine, or Ace. If the dealer's up card is ten, you surrender if it is allowed, but if not, you need to hit.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of 16, you stand if the dealer's up card is two, three, four, five, or six. You hit if the dealer's up card is seven, or eight. If the dealer's up card is nine, ten, or Ace, you surrender if it is allowed, but if not, you need to hit.

- For a blackjack hand with a hard total of 17 to 21, you must always stand.
